What We Believe
In general, the doctrinal beliefs of Knowing God Ministries are evangelical, Christian, and conservative. Here is a brief, basic explanation of our Statement of Faith.
What is the Bible? The Bible is the revealed record of God’s Word to humanity. Scripture has come to us by way of inspiration. It was written down without error in the original autographs. The Bible does not contain the Word of God, it does not become the Word of God, it is the very Word of God.
Who is God? The Scriptures present the fact that the eternal God exists. There is only one true God in the universe, and He is revealed in the pages of Scripture. God is the creator of all that exists. He can be known by humanity and has revealed Himself in ways which all people can comprehend as well as through His Son and His Word. God is Trinity, existing as three persons in one, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
Who is Jesus Christ? He is the Son of God, the second member of the Trinity. Christ has eternally existed as God possessing all the attributes of God. Christ came in human flesh to manifest God to humanity and did so perfectly. He was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born to a virgin. He died as a substitute for all so anyone who would believe on Him would have eternal life.
Who is the Holy Spirit? The Holy Spirit is the second member of the Trinity. He is fully God, equal to the Father and the Son. He has eternally existed as God. The Holy Spirit is infinite spirit, as is God the Father. The Holy Spirit is a person and not a personification of power. He guided the recording of the Scriptures. Today He convicts people of sin and He restrains sin in the world. He accomplishes the new birth in those who have faith in Christ and permanently indwells them. He reveals an understanding of the Scriptures.
How did humanity originate? Humanity came into existence by God's creative act. This was accomplished on the sixth, twenty-four-hour day of Creation week. God formed Adam and Eve by creative acts in His image and likeness. Though sinless when created they fell into sin by choosing to disobey God. This act brought sin to humanity such that it is an indelible mark upon the soul of every person. The tragic result is that sin separates us from God. Humanity has a sin problem and we are unable to do anything about it on our own. If sin is not cared for, the sinner will endure an eternity separated from God.
A statement of faith in greater detail is available that includes Scripture references supporting our beliefs. Contact us and it can be made available to you.
What is salvation? God loves all people and desires that they relate to Him as their Heavenly Father. He has no interest in the eternal punishment of anyone. However, apart from repentance from sin and faith in Jesus Christ, the sinner will suffer eternal loss. Jesus came to satisfy God’s holy demands concerning sin. He died as our substitute to provide forgiveness of sin and eternal life. Faith in Christ repairs the damaged relationship between the sinner and God. Salvation is available to anyone who will believe, but it is a personal decision that must be made. Salvation is by the grace of God through faith in Jesus Christ. The believer will enjoy eternity in the presence of God.
What is the church? God has been gathering a people for Himself throughout history. He chose the family of Abraham to become the nation of Israel through whom He would bless the world and through whom came the Christ. After the death of Christ God began to choose a people for His name who would believe on Christ and be called “the body of Christ” (the church). There are two aspects of the church in the New Testament. The most predominant in reference to the local church, a local body of believers gathering in a specific location. There is also reference to the universal church, which refers to all believers, past and present, collectively. Of course, this has never gathered and is not the emphasis of the New Testament. The church has a twofold mission. First, to build itself up. This is accomplished through discipleship, equipping those in the body, ministering to the body, developing unity, increasing in the knowledge of Christ, relating to one another in love, and experiencing growth. Second, the church must be active in making disciples from all people groups of the world. This will be achieved as the church is going, making disciples, baptizing them, and teaching them to observe all that Christ commanded.
How will the world end? God’s plan of the ages is moving toward the establishment of the kingdom of God. Before the kingdom appears, the world will experience a time of great tribulation. This will include days of terror and horror, want and pain, scarcity and disease. They will be ended by the physical return of Jesus Christ to the earth. He will destroy the devil and his angels, sin, and death. God’s eternal kingdom will then be inaugurated. The timing of when this will occur is not known to anyone nor can we know.
